Bitcoin + NCR

NCR has a documented Bitcoin path through Speed.

Speed announced a partnership agreement with NCR in December 2025 designed to let NCR restaurant and retail merchants enable Bitcoin and stablecoin payments through POS or self-checkout systems.

Integration status: Unlike Toast or Clover, this is not merely a “run another terminal beside the POS” theory. Speed publicly announced an NCR partnership specifically for Bitcoin and stablecoin payments.

Why NCR merchants are different

Existing enterprise footprint

NCR systems are deeply embedded in restaurant and retail operations, so a payment integration can be more valuable than replacing checkout infrastructure.

POS + self-checkout

Speed’s announcement says the partnership covers enabling digital-asset payments through NCR POS or self-checkout environments.

Lightning economics

Merchants can evaluate Bitcoin Lightning for fast customer payment while comparing the complete settlement and processing economics against cards.

What to verify before rollout

The public partnership announcement does not mean every NCR merchant, product version, geography or reseller configuration is automatically enabled. Merchants should confirm eligibility, implementation scope, settlement options and commercial terms with NCR/Speed for their specific deployment.
